City of Fairfax Schools welcomed Anne Murphy as Legal Counsel in April. Murphy will replace Jack Rust who retired after working with the school board for almost 30 years.
“Anne Murphy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the City of Fairfax Schools,” said Dr. Peter Noonan, Superintendent. “She will be a valued voice and counsel for the staff and board.”
Murphy brings over 35 years of legal experience with her last 12 years as Division Counsel for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). While working in FCPS, Ms. Murphy directed the legal office and was responsible for a wide range of legal issues. Murphy also served as director of the National School Board Association Council of School Attorneys. Prior to her work at FCPS, Murphy was a partner in labor and employment practice group in a multinational law firm.
“We are disappointed to see Jack Rust leave, but are thankful for his exceptional service to the city schools and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said Janice Miller, Chairman of the City of Fairfax Schools. “We look forward to working with Anne and know she will be a great partner.”
“I very much look forward to working with the talented and dedicated group of
people who manage the City Schools,” said Murphy.
