Meade Elected Student Representative; Horn to
Serve as Alternate
The City of Fairfax School Board welcomed Kate Meade as its 2018-2019 Student Representative and Kylie Horn as the alternate. The two students were elected by their Fairfax High School peers in the spring of 2018.
Kate Meade will serve as the Student Representative. She will attend all regular school board meetings and give a student presentation. She will also work with the school board throughout the year on an ongoing topic to be determined this summer. In her personal statement, Kate discussed her desire to make a difference and give students a voice within the school board. In a letter from one of her teachers, Kate is described as “bright, motivated, generous, popular and confident”.
In the first year of the position, Kylie Horn will be the Student Rep Alternate. The Alternate will fill in for the student rep if they are unavailable and will serve as the student representative on the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Kylie, a rising 11th grader is described by a teacher as “dilligent, responsible and a caring member of her school and community.”
