Chinese Delegation Tours Lanier MS, Providence
ES and Fairfax Academy
The City of Fairfax Schools welcomed 20 principals from China on Wednesday, November 7. The group, arranged through a partnership with the School Superintedents Association (AASA), toured three schools and met with students, teachers, administrators and City schools leadership.
The principals began their day with a breakfast and tour of Lanier Middle School. With lively discussions and questions surrounding daily student schedules, teacher evaluations, testing and curriculum, the principals were able to get a close view of a typical day for an American middle schooler. The principals then moved to Providence Elementary School where they were able to tour the outdoor classroom, STEAM Lab and speak with reading specialists. After lunch, the group went to Fairfax High School where they met with principal Erin Lenart and took a close look at the Fairfax Academy for Communications and the Arts.
This is an ongoing partnership between AASA and Triway International to promote learning and understanding between educators in the United States and China. In the summer of 2018, students and teacher from Lanier Middle School and Fairfax High School participated in a 10-day trip to China.
