Sixty eight students will perform February 25 as part of a three-day trip to New York City
Sixty eight Fairfax High School Orchestra students will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City February 25, 2018.
The Fairfax High School Orchestras consistently receive Superior rating at the local and national level along the Eastern Seaboard.
Gerald Fowkes, director of orchestras at FHS says, “Musicians of all ages dream of performing on the famous stage at Carnegie Hall. This is a remarkable opportunity for these students and it is a testament to the commitment they have made to their craft. Everyone wants to play Carnegie Hall. It’s one of the best, if not the best, in the world. To be on that stage performing in a place where Tchaikovsky stood and where Leonard Bernstein conducted, it’s going to be a thrill. We truly appreciate all of the ways our community has supported our efforts to make this dream a reality.”
The Orchestra Boosters organization is currently working to raise money to help defray some of the cost of the trip. Any and all donations are welcome at https://www.gofundme.com/fhs-orchestra-trip-to-carnegie-hall.
