Virginia Secretary of Education Dr. Atif Qarni and Virginia State Delegate David Bulova visited Providence Elementary School this week. Secretary Qarni included Providence ES as part of his listening tour of schools in Virginia. In addition, the Secretary and Delegate Bulova celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week while visiting with classrooms, teachers and administrators.
The two hour visit included well wishes to fourth graders embarking on their reading Standards of Learning test, tours of the STEAM Lab and Reading Intensive Care Unit, a sitdown meeting with Principal Dan Phillips, City Schools Superintendent Dr. Phyllis Pajardo, FCPS Region 5 Assisitant Superintedent Dr. Frances Ivey and Region 5 Executive Principal Rebecca
Baenig. The tour ended with a question and answer period with all of the PES 6th graders.
