The City of Fairfax School Board held the annual organizational meeting on Monday, July 11, 2022. Carolyn Pitches was reelected as school board chair and Dr. Mitch Sutterfield was reelected as vice chair.
Jeff Platenberg was sworn in as superintendent and begins his tenure this July. Mr. Platenberg thanked the board for his selection and thanked family members and former colleagues from Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in the audience to witness the ceremony.
The board appointed four city residents as committee members to FCPS committees:
- Brenda Silva Torma to Health Advisory Committee
- Kate Herman to Facilities and Planning Advisory Committee
- Darcy Acquavella to Advisory Committee for Students with Disabilities
- Amy Chase to Advanced Academic Program Advisory Committee
Board Appointees include:
- Bob Reinsel and Toby Sorensen as Board Legislative Liaisons
- Carolyn Pitches and Toby Sorensen as representatives to Washington Area Boards of Education
- Jon Buttram and Carolyn Pitches to Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
