Superintendent Jeff Platenberg presented the proposed draft of the FY 2024 – 2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to the City of Fairfax School Board. The draft CIP addresses current facility maintenance such as transitioning spaces from carpet to tile, concrete repairs, replacing HVAC units, painting, and roof maintenance.
Looking ahead to future projects, the CIP will focus on improvements at Fairfax High School including an auditorium sound upgrades, field enhancements, a new concession stand to serve all sports, and installing two EV charging stations. The projects will be implemented over the next one to four years.
The four city schools will also continue with feasibility studies to do a through examination of the four buildings to see where major improvements or renovations will need to be to prepare students for the future.
