City of Fairfax Schools to Host Referendum-Focused Community Engagement Session October 15

The City of Fairfax will host its final community engagement session focused on the upcoming referendum on Tuesday, October 15. The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., at Daniels Run Elementary School.

This will be the third in a series of informational sessions through which community members can learn more about the division’s facility needs and the proposed $220 million bond referendum on the ballot this November. Attendees can also ask questions and provide input.

“We have had some great informational sessions so far, and it has been wonderful to meet with members of our community to share important information and get their feedback,” said Superintendent Jeff Platenberg. “We take pride in our schools and the exceptional educational experiences we deliver to our students, but we must make key building improvements now to maintain our high learning standards. We look forward to another great conversation on October 15.”

If approved in November, the bond referendum would provide funding for the City of Fairfax Schools to address urgent renovations needed at Daniels Run Elementary and Providence Elementary, while replacing the roof at Fairfax High School. The School Board and City Council have both approved these facility improvement plans.
