City of Fairfax School Board Approves $5 Million Capital Improvement Plan to Enhance School Facilities

At their regular meeting on Monday, December 2, 2024, the City of Fairfax School Board approved the FY 2026-2030 $5 million capital improvement plan (CIP) to maintain and upgrade the district’s school facilities. This strategic investment underscores the board’s commitment to ensuring safe, functional, and modern learning environments that support the district’s educational goals.

The approved plan focuses on addressing critical infrastructure needs, improving safety measures, and extending the life of school facilities. Key projects include:

  • Facility Maintenance and Upgrades: Completing structural repairs, HVAC system updates, roofing replacements, and carpet to tile transformation.
  • Safety Enhancements: Upgrading security measures, including entry systems, lighting, and emergency response infrastructure.
  • Field Upgrades: Updating the Fairfax HS softball field over the next two years.
