Katherine Johnson Middle School (KJMS) and Providence Elementary School (PES) have been recognized with the prestigious Green Flag Award from the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) through the EcoSchools U.S. program.
Nationwide, only 56 Green Flags were awarded, making this achievement a significant honor. Students and teachers at these schools implemented comprehensive sustainability measures to earn enough points for the award. Both KJMS and PES boast extensive outdoor classrooms, robust environmental programs and extracurricular activities, and the dedication of both staff and students to achieve success.
The Green Flag Award is part of a student-led initiative that fosters youth leadership, raises environmental awareness, connects students to the natural world, and inspires positive change. The program is supported locally by Get2Green’s Ignite Partnership with the NWF, which provides a structured framework for environmental action through the EcoSchools U.S. program.
